The integration of culture and art into the healthcare ecosystem will be a key highlight of the business programme at the 2nd “Russia and the World: Healthy Longevity Trends” Forum, held on 9–10 July at the World Trade Center in Moscow The Forum is organised jointly by the Executive Office of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Roscongress Foundation, with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Russian Scientific Center for Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky serving as organizational partners.
On 9 July, the Forum will host a session titled “Science in Art: Joining Forces.” Participants will examine peer-reviewed research confirming the impact of culture on human health, explore strategies for building effective partnerships between culture, science, and healthcare, and discuss how to foster an open dialogue between cultural figures, clinicians, and scientists to establish a unified agenda for healthy longevity. “Culture has always served as far more than a guardian of traditions and spiritual development — it is also a vital resource for strengthening health and improving overall quality of life,” noted Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, who will moderate the expert discussion. “Theatre, music, museums, literature, and artistic engagement actively support emotional well-being, help preserve cognitive function, reinforce social connections, and promote active longevity. Today, it is especially important to unify the efforts of cultural institutions with the medical and scientific communities to launch innovative, interdisciplinary projects grounded in modern research. Such collaboration will establish cultural practices as an essential pillar in our broader mission to build a healthy society.”
Session participants include Sergei Novikov, Chief of the Presidential Directorate for Social Projects; Evgeny Kamkin, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation; Artyom Zdunov, Head of the Republic of Mordovia; Vladimir Filippov, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Labour and Social Protection; Vita Fortunati, Professor at the University of Bologna; Vasily Klucharev, Neurobiologist and Director of the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at the Higher School of Economics; Ivan Nikiforchin, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Capella "Academy of Russian Music"; and Aleksandr Zatsepin, Composer and People’s Artist of Russia.
On 10 July, the Forum will host a session titled “The Brain of a Supercentenarian: Medicine, Art, Community,”moderated by Vladimir Mashkov, People's Artist of Russia, Chairman of the Union of Theatre Workers, and Artistic Director of both the Oleg Tabakov Moscow Theatre and the Moscow Sovremennik Theatre. The panel will explore how social involvement and creative engagement contribute to achieving healthy longevity and preserving brain health and cognitive function. Session participants include Olga Krivonos, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation; Sergey Pershin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation; Svetlana Orlova, Auditor of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation; Maria Kiseleva, three-time Olympic champion in artistic swimming and Director of her own Russian Water Theatre; and Igor Matvienko, People’s Artist of Russia, composer and producer.
During the Forum, its guests and participants will be able to enjoy a performance of the play “Like-minded People” by the Sovremennik Theatre, alongside an exhibition featuring graduation works by students of the Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts of Sergey Andriaka, as well as masterpieces by the artist himself.
