The 2nd “Russia and the World: Healthy Longevity Trends” Forum is scheduled for 9–10 July at the World Trade Center in Moscow. As a core highlight of the Forum’s business programme, the track titled “The Mechanisms of Aging and the Possibility of Managing Biological Age” will bring together leading Russian and international scientists to evaluate cutting-edge advancements in the biology of aging, genetics, and personalized medicine. Participants will explore advanced methodologies for assessing biological age, the early detection of health risks, and the practical deployment of technologies designed to sustain health and elevate the overall quality of life. The Forum is organised jointly by the Executive Office of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Roscongress Foundation, with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Russian Scientific Center for Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky serving as organizational partners.
Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, will moderate the session titled “From Evidence-Based Medicine 2.0 to Incorporating Evidence into Medicine 3.0.” Modern clinical technologies are increasingly shifting the healthcare system’s focus from treating diseases to actively sustaining health and slowing the aging process. Health facilities are transforming into dedicated healthy longevity medicine centres — a shift that represents far more than a mere rebranding, but a transition to a completely new operational model that is predictive, personalized, and proactive. This new paradigm relies on a comprehensive approach to risk assessment. Advanced diagnostics now make it possible to detect signs of premature aging and underlying health risks at their earliest stages, well before clinically evident diseases manifest.
Panel experts will discuss the scientific and technological breakthroughs underpinning this predictive framework, exploring how to maximize the potential of healthy longevity medicine across clinical practices and the broader healthcare system. The discussion will also examine which biomarkers and methodologies reliably identify signs of accelerated aging, evaluate the most globally viable interventions — ranging from non-pharmacological approaches to high-tech therapies — and map out how to construct a personalized health trajectory for every patient.
The track will also feature an open lecture on the biology of aging and biological age management delivered by
Claudio Franceschi, Professor Emeritus of Immunology at the University of Bologna, and
Alexey Moskalev, Director of the Institute of Biology of Aging and Healthy Longevity Medicine and the Preventive Medicine Clinic at the Russian Scientific Center of Surgery named after B.V. Petrovsky.

A dedicated session within this track will focus extensively on the biology of aging, from initial research to real-world outcomes. Modern advancements in the biomedical sciences are unlocking fundamentally new horizons for sustaining health and extending healthy lifespans. Today, key molecular and cellular mechanisms of aging have been clearly mapped — including epigenetic alterations, telomere shortening, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, chronic systemic inflammation, and extracellular matrix degradation. Worldwide, researchers are developing highly precise biomarkers to track biological age and its shifting dynamics, pioneering technologies for cellular and tissue rejuvenation, and introducing targeted geroprotective interventions. This collective data convincingly demonstrates that the aging process itself can be actively managed through targeted clinical intervention. Driven by these breakthroughs, the biology of aging has rapidly emerged as a groundbreaking field of science. This discipline investigates the biological mechanisms of aging across various life stages and at every operational level: subcellular, cellular, tissue, organ, and systemic. Panel experts will examine the rapid evolution of aging biology across Russia, highlighting ongoing research initiatives alongside field-tested results that have already been integrated into clinical practice.
